Intermediate School District 917 secures sixth spot in student Reading test participation in 2021-22 school year

Intermediate School District 917 ranked sixth in the Dakota County for test participation, with 125 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Intermediate School District 917 students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 7.8% over the previous year.

Intermediate School District 917's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 25% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 23% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, fourth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 69% not meeting the expected standards.

Intermediate School District 917 encompasses schools within Dakota County and has a main office in Rosemount.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
